TEENS COLLEGE PREP ARTS AND DESIGN
These courses for aspiring artists and designers further skills and abilities, explore the creative process and develop style and means of visual expression. Students at all levels work with professional artists and art educators and receive a strong foundation in basic art and design principles plus guidance in developing strong portfolio pieces. Students can take any or all of the classes.
TEEN FIGURE DRAWING

Wednesdays, 1/13 - 3/3, 4-6pm

Dive into figure drawing with a bikini or bathing suit clad model and learn traditional methods to render anatomy, capture gesture and show form. Loosen up each week with gesture poses and finish with 20-30 minute long poses, perfect for developing portfolio pieces. Models will hold fun beach props, helpful for anyone interested in animation and translating an active pose. Two weeks devoted to head drawing. Class size limited.
HANDS ON GRAPHIC DESIGN

Explore the craft of visual language in a non-digital environment to create powerful design using traditional techniques and methods, such as photocopier, scissors, glue, tape, stencils, transfers and rub down type. Learn about composition, color and type while designing CD covers, advertisements and posters. Great opportunity to learn basic elements of design and to develop an exciting portfolio for college or art school! Bring tracing paper and pencils to first class.

Work in a supportive studio environment, while assembling a professional portfolio to improve your chance for college or art school admission. Determine what pieces to include (and what to exclude!). Photograph your pieces to show them to their best advantage. Individual instruction and help with ongoing work, or instructor will help you design new work in painting, drawing, book arts or design. Each session includes creative work time, demonstrations, viewing and discussion, plus informal and informative critiques. *Private instruction also available.
