INTRODUCTION TO STONE CARVING   NEW!
Valter Varderesian (VV-1) 
Mondays,1/12 - 3/23 (no class 2/16), 3:30-6pm
$175, Members $145

Learn basic stone carving techniques from relief carving to three dimensional carving. Work in plaster, hydra stone and marble. Focus on studying and understanding the stone, positive and negative, shape, form, composition and art theory. Each class begins with 20-minute demonstration. Class discussions and critiques. Pick up supply list.


CLAY MODELING NEW!

Ages 16–adult*
$250, Members $220

Studio course with life model. Work in oil-based clay and plaster. Learn mold making and casting. Focus on composition and theory of figurative sculpture while studying human anatomy, skeletal structure and muscle structure. Each class begins with 20-minute demonstration. Class discussions and critiques. Pick up supply list.


SCULPTING THE PORTRAIT

Tuesdays, 1/13 - 3/117, 12:30-3:30pm
$250, Members $220

Learn the fundamentals of sculpting in water-based clay while creating a portrait bust. No prior experience necessary, just enthusiasm for working from a life model. Complete two sculptures from two different models, working four weeks on each. Basic head anatomy as well as an overview of varying styles in portrait sculpture history. Learn to build an armature and to use faux bronze finishing techniques. Pick up supply list.

Robin Bott (RB-1)
Wednesdays, 1/15 - 3/19, 6:30-9:30pm
$175, Members $145
$50 supply fee paid to instructor

Learn to nip, score, cut and adhere glass and ceramic tiles. Create ceramic wall hanging, “woven glass tapestry” mirror and stained glass mosaic lamp.
