DIGITAL ART DEMONSTRATION

Aaron Yassin, a new-media artist who works with photography, digital processing and printing, video and installations, will demonstrate his art in the Art Center’s new digital lab. Starting with aerial photographs of Los Angeles freeway interchanges, he will demonstrate his process of creating digital photographic prints. Key aspects of wide-format printing, including color management and media, will be discussed. Participants are encouraged to bring their own favorite digital image.
UNDERSTANDING LANDSCAPE & SHORTCUTS TO PLEIN AIR

Would you like to paint more quickly and confidently outside? Learn a new way to see the landscape and discuss simple yet vital techniques and steps to improve your landscape and plein air painting. Spend one day in the studio discussing preparation, subject matter and finding your inspiration plus a mini-demonstration of secret steps to unlock your inner landscape artist; then enjoy two days painting on location and putting new tools into practice. Be challenged to break new ground by incorporating new techniques into your painting style. Learn special techniques to create a greater sense of depth and distance in your landscapes and give volume to your trees and other objects. Using knowledge gained as past president of the National Watercolor Society, Willie will also teach you how to submit paintings to juried shows. All levels welcome. Pick up suggested supply list.
AQUAMEDIA & COLLAGE: EXPERIMENTAL & ENERGIZING CLASS

Learn new and experimental ways to paint with water-based acrylics. Be ready to try one thing after another while moving from transparent to translucent to opaque! Explore acrylics, heavy gel medium, gesso, gold leaf, texture, transfers and collage. Emphasis on achieving line, depth and texture. The focus of the workshop is abstract; however, combining abstract with realistic elements is an option. Try different hot press surface papers. Work on several pieces at the same time as you experiment with new ways to begin paintings, analyze work with design aids and try different finishing techniques. Color mixing and basic design elements presented. Demonstrations, individual attention and private critique. Receive three-ring binder with 42 pages of handouts, including in-depth information on class demos, design, color, inspirational quotes, finishing suggestions, supply sources and much more.
